CMS Posts Final MDS 3.0 Item Sets Version 1.19.1

The final Minimum Data Set (MDS) 3.0 Item Sets version (v)1.19.1 and Item Matrix are now available in the Downloads section on the Minimum Data Set (MDS) 3.0 Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI) Manual page. The MDS Item Sets v1.19.1 will be effective beginning October 01, 2024.

The following changes are noted from the current version of the MDS (v1.18.11):

  • Section A: Removal of A2121, Provision of Current Reconciled Medication List to Subsequent Provider at Discharge and A2122, Route of Current Reconciles Medication List Transmission to Subsequent Provider from the NPE Item Set (a stand-alone Part A PPS Discharge)
  • Section GG: Removal of Column 2, Discharge Goal from the Section GG – Functional Abilities – Admission items under GG0130/GG0170
  • Section N: New item under N0415, High-Risk Drug Classes: Use and Indication, N0415K, Anticonvulsant 
  • Section O: New item O0350, Resident’s COVID-19 Vaccination Is Up to Date

As of May 20, CMS had not released the draft version of the RAI Manual for October 1, 2024.
