Program Summary:

The Advanced Infection Prevention & Control for Long Term Care Facilities series offers an in-depth, evidence-based curriculum addressing the most pressing infection prevention challenges faced by long-term care professionals. Topics include advanced data collection and analysis, antibiotic stewardship, management of complex infections such as Clostridioides difficile and skin and soft tissue infections, and strategies for effective outbreak preparedness and response. This series is designed to empower infection preventionists with the expertise and practical tools necessary to promote safe and resilient care environments for vulnerable populations.

 

Sessions Include:

•9/10/25 Unlocking Insights: Mastering Data Collection and Trend Analysis for Infection Prevention. Discover how to effectively gather and analyze your infection prevention data, spot meaningful trends, and present your findings with clarity and impact. Learn the best practices for transforming raw data into actionable insights that drive better infection control outcomes.

•9/17/25 Advanced Antibiotic Stewardship. Understanding antibiograms, using antibiotic quick guides effectively, and managing family requests for antibiotics.

•9/24/25 Wound Wise: Managing Skin & Soft Tissue Infections. Key definitions, surveillance tips, when and how to culture (Levine technique), interpreting results, deciding when to treat, and strategies to prevent recurrence.

•10/01/25 From Spores to Solutions: A Modern C. diff Update. Know the key risk factors, when and how to test, isolation precautions, hand hygiene, environmental cleaning, treatment choices (including antibiotics and FMT), and how to manage recurrences.

•10/08/25 UTIs & CAUTIs: Cutting Through the Confusion. Definitions, surveillance strategies, proper culture management, when treatment is warranted, how to prevent recurrence, and a review of the 2025 guideline updates.

•10/15/25 Outbreak Ready: Managing Infection Surges in LTC.  Learn how to prepare for, detect, and respond to outbreaks in long-term care.

Presenters:
Capsid Consulting's mission is to enhance the Infection Prevention and Antibiotic Stewardship Programs in long term care facilities around the United States. Capsid Consulting is an Associate Member of Mass Senior Care Association.

Ramzi Asfour, MD, CEO and Founder, Capsid Consulting. Dr. Asfour has personal experience working in over 30 long term care facilities. 

Dost Sarpel, MD, Chief Operating Officer and Medical Director, Capsid Consulting. Dr. Sarpel is an Infectious Disease consultant with Milford Regional Physicians Group.

Maryanne Caruso, RN, CPHQ, CIC, Director of Infection Prevention and Clinical Education, Capsid Consulting. Maryanne is board certified in health care quality management and infection prevention & control.

CEUs: 1.5 CEU will be awarded for each session.

 

The Massachusetts Senior Care Association has qualified for “deemed status #NH-09015-007” from the Board of Registration of Nursing Home Administrators for Administrators. This program also meets continuing education requirements for Nurses in Massachusetts.

 

All paid attendees will receive a certificate of attendance.

 

Cancellation Policy: 

Mass Senior Care must be notified in writing no later than 48 hours prior to the start of the seminar for a refund, minus a $25 processing fee, which will be refunded in the manner in which the payment was made. “No Show” attendees will be billed at the full registration fee. Cancellations should be emailed to info@maseniorcare.org.
