Meet Seana Hall who is one of the 45,000 dedicated caregivers providing care and vital companionship to the Commonwealth’s nursing home residents. Seana has recently been promoted from Activities Director to Director of Admissions at Briarwood Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Needham.
Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Seana implemented creative activities to ensure residents living at Briarwood had a sense of normalcy and stayed connected with their family members and loved ones, including dance parties, bingo in the hallway, and a letter-writing campaign to loved ones. While visitations were closed and only essential personnel were allowed into nursing homes, Seana seized every opportunity to create holiday cheer and bring smiles to her residents, dressing up as Santa Claus, the Grinch and the Easter Bunny. A dedicated and tireless caregiver, Seana would schedule virtual FaceTime calls each day to provide residents and their loved ones with visits that would buoy their spirits. She developed meaningful relationships with residents by making the time to be with them while protecting them from the COVID-19 virus.
There are many success stories of residents recovering from COVID-19 and returning home. Under Seana’s leadership, staff at Briarwood celebrated “COVID graduations” for residents who recovered, happily reuniting them with their family members. From delivering smiles to coordinating activities, Seana’s selflessness, compassion and dedication to the residents and their families are the reasons she is a healthcare hero.
