Senate President Karen Spilka and Speaker of the House of Representatives Ronald Mariano announced their respective leadership teams and committee assignments for the 2023-2024 legislative session including the reappointments of the Chairs of the House and Senate Committees on Ways and Means. President Spilka reappointed Senator Michael Rodrigues (D-Westport) as chair of the Senate Committee on Ways and Means and Speaker Mariano reappointed Representative Aaron Michlewitz (D-Boston) as chair of the House Committee on Ways and Means.
In addition, chairs of the following committees were also named:
Joint Committee on Elder Affairs: Senator Patricia Jehlan and Representative Thomas Stanley
Joint Committee on Public Health: Senator Julian Cyr and Representative Marjorie Decker
Joint Committee on Health Care Financing: Senator Cindy Friedman and Representative John Lawn, Jr.
The House and Senate clerks will soon refer all 7,000+ bills that were filed in January to the appropriate committees. The Massachusetts Senior Care Association looks forward to working with the legislature during the upcoming session to advance legislation that promotes access to quality resident care, addresses our workforce crisis, including a living wage for our dedicated caregivers, and rate modernization to ensure financial stability for the sector.
