Attorney General Andrea Campbell announced the creation of a new Elder Justice Unit within the agency and has appointed Mary Freely to lead the Unit, which will focus on promoting the safety and welfare of the state's elderly population. As director of the Elder Justice Unit, Freeley will oversee a team that works with staff from Attorney General’s Criminal, Public Protection and Advocacy, and Health Care and Fair Competition bureaus to enhance work already being done to prosecute the abuse and exploitation of older adults, conduct intentional outreach to elders, and advocate for state and federal policies that align with the unit's mission.
