On Wednesday, September 26th, the 2018 Massachusetts Senior Care Foundation Scholars were honored for their achievements and dedication to long term care at a luncheon ceremony held at the State House. The Foundation selected 35 exceptional awardees which included Certified Nursing Assistants, nurses, admissions, dietary and other facility staff who will use their scholarships to further their professional development and leadership in the long term care profession.
“Our Foundation Scholars are successfully balancing work and school, and many have overcome major life challenges to get to where they are today. Most not only excel in their studies, but are leaders and role models within their facilities,” said Foundation President Bill Bogdanovich. "Recipients represent the rich diversity of our caregiving workforce, including immigrants who hail from Brazil, the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Uganda and Kenya." The ceremony was also attended by State Senators and Representatives who presented official citations to Foundation Scholars for their dedication as caregivers.
The Massachusetts Senior Care Foundation Scholarship Program assists long term care employees seeking to further their education to achieve their professional and personal goals. Since 1987, the Foundation has awarded $2.8 million dollars in scholarships to nearly 1,600 deserving long term care staff, known as Foundation Scholars. This annual program, funded through the generosity of long term care providers and related organizations, supports the Foundation’s mission to promote the development of a skilled and committed workforce.
