Program Description
On July 31, 2022, the Department of Public Health will begin enforcing the Putting Patients First statute, G.L., c. 111, s. 228 (“PPF”). This law requires health care providers to notify patients about charges and payments for proposed admissions, procedures, services, and referrals that are specific to the patient’s insurance carrier. This law authorizes the DPH, consistent with its authority to regulate health care providers, to penalize providers who fail to comply with a penalty up to $2,500 for each instance of non-compliance. However, penalties may not be issued in the months immediately following the effective date. Facilities are at further risk of losing significant reimbursement for resident stays if they fail to comply with the PPF. Enacted in 2021, the Act applies to health care facilities, clinics, practitioners and other providers, including skilled nursing facilities.

Quality Assurance & Performance Improvement Certification Program (CHHi-QAPI)* (and Recertification Option)
Presented in Partnership with Harmony Healthcare International (HHI)
July 11, 18, 25 & August 1, (once a week for 4 weeks)
9:00 am – 1:15 pm
Via Zoom
Program Description:
This four-week course, which meets one day per week for 4 hours each day, offers participants a robust understanding of the QAPI methodology. Quality Assurance & Performance Improvement (QAPI) is a data-driven, proactive approach to improving the quality of life, care, and services in organizational settings. CMS requires that healthcare entities implement and effectively demonstrate a program that encompasses the principles and methods associated with ongoing monitoring of outcomes. A QAPI program provides the facility level team members a forum and platform to identify areas of growth, risk and refinement that potentially impact the quality of care rendered to the patient population or negatively impinge on the financial well-being of the organization. Effective QAPI programs are critical to improving the quality of life, quality of care and quality of services that are delivered in nursing homes.
Upon completion of the workshop, access to the CHHi-QAPI certification exam via email will be available. Take the exam at your own pace within 90 days. If you score 80% or higher, you pass the exam and will receive your CHHi-QAPI credential.
*Certified Harmony Healthcare International (HHI) QAPI Professional
