  • Legislature Adjourns Formal Session with Major Bills Unresolved
August 2, 2024

Yesterday, the Legislature adjourned formal session leaving unresolved a number of critical initiatives including the over $3 billion Omnibus Economic Development bill, which contained a $50 million Nursing Facility Capital Investment Fund in the House version (H.4804). The legislature also did not override the Governor’s $317 million in vetoes to the FY 2025 budget indicating concern over a continued decline in state revenues. A top priority of Mass Senior Care, the Long-Term Care Reform bill is also on hold, but legislative leaders indicated a willingness to continue to work to enact a compromise proposal during informal session. Mass Senior Care will continue our advocacy on this legislation, as well as working to increase rate year 2025 funding via the so-called “close out” budget, which will be debated in October.
