On Wednesday, June 26th, CMS posted an unpublished version of the Proposed Rule: Calendar Year 2025 Home Health Prospective Payment System Rate Update; Home Health Quality Reporting Program Requirements; etc. to the Federal Register. This proposed rule includes a requirement to continue reporting resident-level data for long term care facilities (i.e., nursing homes) to the CDC National Health Safety Network (NHSN).

The proposed changes also add a requirement to modify reporting to include data for other respiratory illnesses, including influenza and Respiratory Syncytial Viru (RSV). If finalized, beginning on January 1, 2025, facilities would be required to electronically report information about COVID-19, influenza, and RSV in a standardized format and frequency specified by the Secretary.
