The Executive Office of Health and Human Services (EOHHS) has filed an Emergency Adoption to 101 CMR 346.00: Rates for Certain Substance-Related and Addictive Disorders Programs for the purpose of improving access to Medications for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD), including methadone, for nursing facility residents with substance use disorders. It encourages Opioid Treatment Programs (OTPs) to deliver medications directly to nursing facilities where facility staff can administer them to residents, reducing the need for daily transportation.
OTPs that deliver medications to nursing facilities for Fee-For-Service MassHealth members can now bill an additional $47.71 per week, on top of the usual weekly bundled rate. This is designed to encourage more collaboration between OTPs and nursing facilities, particularly those that already receive the SUD add-on. We encourage nursing facilities to contact their partner OTPs to discuss possible medication delivery arrangements.
Note: This additional payment is only available for Fee-For-Service members. OTPs cannot bill for members enrolled in managed care plans, such as ACOs, at this time. You can read the Emergency Adoption here.
