  • CMS Requirement to Report Healthcare Personnel Influenza Vaccination Data
November 23, 2022

The FY 2023 SNF PPS Final Rule that was published in the Federal Register August 2022, requires CMS-certified skilled nursing facilities to report annual Healthcare Personnel influenza vaccination summary data through the NHSN HPS Component for the 2022-2023 influenza season.

The reporting period for the 2022-2023 influenza season is from October 1, 2022, through March 31, 2023. To meet CMS reporting requirements, HCP influenza vaccination summary data reports must be entered into NHSN no later than May 15, 2023, for the 2022-2023 influenza season. Facilities can edit their data after May 15, but the revised data will not be shared with CMS.

Monthly reporting in NHSN is not required; entering a single influenza vaccination summary report at the end of the reporting period for the influenza season will meet the minimum data requirement.  Reporting weekly influenza vaccination data in the LTC Component does not fulfill this reporting requirement.

DPH has indicated that nursing facilities will no longer be required to report healthcare personnel influenza vaccination data through the Health Care Facility Reporting System (HCFRS) due to the requirement to report through the NHSN HPS Component.
