  • Reminder for MassHealth Providers utilizing Bot Technology
September 1, 2022

MassHealth has issued the following reminder for MassHealth Providers utilizing Bot Technology: Organizations that are using a bot on the POSC that has been operational since prior to July 1, 2022, must register the bot and request approval from MassHealth no later than September 30, 2022.  If your organization is still operating a bot on the POSC after that date you will be out of compliance with MassHealth’s RPA policy and subject to monitoring and enforcement.

Please note, effective July 1, 2022, MassHealth requires that any/all organizations (providers, business partners, and relationship entities that utilize Robotics Processing Automation (RPA) tools (AKA bots) on MassHealth’s Medicaid Management Information System (MMIS) Provider Online Service Center (POSC) register the bot and request approval from MassHealth prior to the implementation of any bot technology.

It is important that existing bot users register the bot and request approval from MassHealth no later than September 30. These organizations should complete and submit the RPA Stage II Registration Form – Grandfathered Entities to MassHealth at functional.coordination@mass.gov.

Please refer to the Robotics Processing Automation (RPA) All Provider Bulletin 345 for more information regarding MassHealth’s RPA Policy or the mass.gov MassHealth Robotics Processing Automation (RPA) Policy web page at https://www.mass.gov/guides/masshealth-robotics-processing-automation-rpa-policy.

Please share this information If you have any questions regarding this RPA policy, please contact MassHealth at functional.coordination@mass.gov.

*If your point of contact for MassHealth is through a different vendor (Optum for LTSS providers, DentaQuest for dentists, Conduent for pharmacists, etc.), please follow up with those respective vendors to confirm the requested information above.
