Seminar Description:
Effective with the July 2022 Care Compare refresh, CMS revised the methodology for calculating the Staffing star rating. The new rating is based on six separate staffing measures. Similar to the Quality Measure (QM) rating, points are assigned based on the performance on each of these six measures. In addition, CMS revised the methodology for assigning the overall quality star rating. This virtual program will provide attendees with an update on the changes in methodology for both the staffing and the overall quality star ratings.

Building a “successful” Infection Prevention & Control program means that your facility will have effective measures in place to improve resident and employee safety, decrease operating costs, decrease facility-acquired infections and adverse outcomes, and will be continually survey-ready. This workshop series is designed to provide an interactive overview of infection prevention and antibiotic stewardship measures, with the opportunity for individual interaction to ensure that participants have a solid understanding of the elements of a successful program that are relevant to their job roles. Content is presented in a modular format, allowing participants to select topics relevant to their practice.

CMS Revised Requirements of Participation – Webinar

Seminar Description:
On June 29, 2022, CMS released revisions to the Phase 2 Requirements of Participation guidance to enhance quality and oversight in certain areas, such as abuse and neglect, admission, transfer, and discharge, and improving care for individuals with mental health or substance use disorder needs. Additional clarifications were incorporated into the regulatory groups of Quality of Life and Quality of Care, Food and Nutrition Services, and Physical Environment. In addition to the changes to Phase 2, CMS has provided guidance to implement the Phase 3 Requirements of Participation. CMS also revised Chapter 5 of the SOM related to investigating complaints and facility reported incidents (FRIs). Starting October 24, 2022, surveyors will begin using the guidance to determine compliance during annual recertification and complaint surveys.
This two-day virtual workshop will review the updates to Phase 2 requirements as well as the new interpretative guidance for the Phase 3 Requirements of Participation. In addition, revisions to guidance in Chapter 5 related to Complaint and Facility Reported Incidents will be reviewed.
