CMS Revised Requirements of Participation – Webinar

August 29 & August 31, 2022

9:00 am – 12:30 pm

Seminar Description:

On June 29, 2022, CMS released revisions to the Phase 2 Requirements of Participation guidance to enhance quality and oversight in certain areas, such as abuse and neglect, admission, transfer, and discharge, and improving care for individuals with mental health or substance use disorder needs. Additional clarifications were incorporated into the regulatory groups of Quality of Life and Quality of Care, Food and Nutrition Services, and Physical Environment. In addition to the changes to Phase 2, CMS has provided guidance to implement the Phase 3 Requirements of Participation. CMS also revised Chapter 5 of the SOM related to investigating complaints and facility reported incidents (FRIs). Starting October 24, 2022, surveyors will begin using the guidance to determine compliance during annual recertification and complaint surveys.

This two-day virtual workshop will review the updates to Phase 2 requirements as well as the new interpretative guidance for the Phase 3 Requirements of Participation. In addition, revisions to guidance in Chapter 5 related to Complaint and Facility Reported Incidents will be reviewed.
