As we have previously reported to membership, the Center for Health Information and Analysis (CHIA) is in the final stages of upgrading and modernizing the Nursing Facility Cost Reports in an effort to make the forms more accessible to policy makers, providers and consumers. Part 1 of the project included (1) conversion of the manual filing of the HCF-1-2-3 reports to electronic filings and (2) publishing a Nursing Facility Industry Report.
CHIA has now issued an update on the 2021 nursing facility cost report filing which will be the final step in CHIA’s modernization project to convert the forms to electronic format. This includes instructions on the new web application for skilled nursing facilities to submit annual cost reports which replaces the HCF-1 INET cost report. The new skilled nursing facility cost report, called the SNF-CR, has been reformatted and redesigned to take advantage of the new CHIA Submissions platform and to streamline information being reported. These changes are similar to the recently redesigned MGT-CR (for the 2018 reporting period) and REA-CR (for the 2019 reporting period).
CHIA is planning on deploying the new SNF-CR, the REA-CR, and the MGT-CR in spring 2022.
In addition, CHIA has posted on its website Calendar Year 2020 cost reports in PDF format. This webpage contains the most current cost reports for Massachusetts nursing and residential care facilities.
