  • PBJ Quarter 3 Submission Deadline Approaching & iQIES Transition
July 31, 2026

The deadline for submitting Payroll-Based Journal (PBJ) data for Quarter 3 (April 1 –June 30, 2026) is Friday, August 14, 2026, at 11:59pm ET. Mass Senior Care strongly encourages providers to submit their PBJ data well before the deadline to help avoid last-minute technical or processing issues. Early submission provides valuable time to review validation reports, resolve any identified errors, and resubmit files if necessary before the reporting period closes.

Following submission, providers should carefully review all applicable PBJ CASPER reports to verify that their data was processed successfully and to identify any issues requiring correction. Addressing discrepancies before the submission deadline helps ensure accurate and complete reporting.

As a reminder, CMS will transition Payroll-Based Journal (PBJ) reporting to iQIES effective August 17, 2026. Beginning on that date, all PBJ staffing data must be submitted through the new iQIES platform. To help facilities prepare, MSCA has developed a "How to Prepare for PBJ Moving to iQIES” Tip Sheet, which outlines key steps for a successful transition. Members are encouraged to review system access requirements, train appropriate staff, and update internal processes in advance of the implementation date. Taking proactive steps now will help ensure uninterrupted PBJ reporting and ongoing compliance with CMS requirements.
