  • Mass Senior Care Members Advocate at State House for Critically Needed Investments in Long Term Care
May 24, 2018

Nearly 200 nursing facility staff, residents and residents' family members took to the State House on Tuesday to deliver an urgent message that increased funding for frontline staff and resident care is immediately needed in order to meet the care needs of vulnerable nursing home residents who can no longer live safely in the community.  The program at Advocacy Day featured Matt Salmon, Chairman of Mass Senior Care, Tara Gregorio, President of Mass Senior Care, Senate President Harriette Chandler and Senate Ways and Means Vice Chair Joan Lovely. Following remarks by the featured speakers, attendees fanned out across the State House to encourage their senators to support key nursing home budget amendments during the first day of Senate budget deliberations. In addition, attendees thanked their State Representatives and urged them to continue to support the House's funding level during the upcoming FY 2019 conference committee deliberations.

As part of Mass Senior Care's Advocacy Day, an exhibit of artwork from nursing facility residents across the state is on display at the Massachusetts State House this week. We thank the following members for lending their residents' artwork to be showcased.

  • Beaumont Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center, Northbridge
  • Charlene Manor Extended Care Facility, Greenfield
  • Copley at Stoughton, Stoughton
  • Holy Trinity Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Worcester
  • Notre Dame Long Term Care Center, Worcester
  • Odd Fellows Home of Massachusetts, Worcester
  • Palm Center, Chelmsford
  • St. Patrick's Manor, Framingham
  • The Boston Home, Boston
  • Windsor Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, South Yarmouth
  • Worcester Health Center, Worcester

Mass Senior Care extends our appreciation to everyone who made calls to their legislators, wrote letters, volunteered artwork and attended Advocacy Day. Thank you, your participation truly makes a difference!
