spring conference 2023

Administrative, clinical and operations staff from nursing facilities across the state attended Mass Senior Care’s May 17th Spring Conference & Trade Show at the DCU Center in Worcester.  This dynamic and informative program featured a morning session with remarks by MSCA Chair Tom Lavallee, MSCA President Tara Gregorio and Steven Littlehale, Chief Innovation Officer at Zimmet Healthcare who presented a program on Risk Mitigation Strategies that Reduce Nursing Home and Employee Risk. Recognizing the recent end of the COVID-19 public health emergency, Lavallee noted “that it had been 1,164 days since Governor Baker declared a public health emergency and despite what sometimes appeared to be insurmountable odds during some very dark days, we didn’t give up, our residents counted on us, and we delivered. I am in awe of just how much we have accomplished together and I believe it has made us stronger as individuals and as an Association.” Following his remarks, Gregorio thanked members for the ongoing commitment to resident care and to our community, noting, “The many selfless acts of kindness that have occurred during the pandemic inspire me each and every day to continue to advocate for the resources our staff and residents need.”  She outlined MSCA’s ongoing efforts to address workforce, financial and regulatory compliance challenges and expressed optimism about working with the new administration.  In addition, Gregorio expressed the Association’s gratitude for the sponsors and more than 50 exhibitors who participated in this year’s Spring Conference, including the Premier Sponsor, CLA and the Educational Partner, Marcum LLP.

Sue Misiorski, Vice President of Workforce Development at MSCA moderated the afternoon session, The Workforce Imperative: Building an Adequate and Equitable Pipeline of New Workers, which featured data-rich presentations by Dr. Sasha Cohen, Associate Director at the Massachusetts Health Policy Commission and Catherine Nwachukwu, Manager of Research at the Center for Health Information and Analysis.  In addition, two member providers, Adam Berman, President and CEO of Legacy Lifecare and Deb Richardson, VP of Talen Acquisition at Integritus Healthcare, shared their strategies and successes in creating and implementing pipeline and career ladder programs at their organizations.

Attendees ended the day with a Long Term Care Heroes Reception sponsored by ProCare LTC Pharmacy.

Thank you to our generous Sponsors and Exhibitors!
