  • Action Alert: Your Advocacy Is Needed Now! Standing Strong for Nursing Facility Residents and Caregivers
December 12, 2025
Action Alert

As the Governor and Legislature begin their deliberations on the FY 2027 budget, the Long Term Care community is urged to please contact Governor Healey in support of funding for quality nursing facility resident care and staff. Over the past few years, the Commonwealth and provider community has made meaningful progress in implementing initiatives that improve access to quality nursing facility care and strengthening our workforce. We are grateful and proud of these initial achievements, and it is imperative that we build upon these investments in FY 2027. Mass Senior Care therefore is advocating for an increase of $160 million in the FY2027 budget to fund increased resident care costs and allow facilities to hire additional direct care staff and provide a 3% cost-of-living wage increase to cover escalating costs for housing, food, transportation for our existing caregivers. MSCA’s proposal ensures continued access to nursing facility care for high-acuity hospital patients and for individuals who can no longer live safely in the community. Please call Governor Healey today at 617-725-4005 to urge her support for vital investments in nursing facility care.
