  • Action Alert: Please Call Your State Senator to Prioritize Nursing Home Care
May 2, 2019

ANSWER THE CALL TO CARE! PLEASE CALL YOUR STATE SENATOR AND URGE HIM/HER TO MAKE  QUALITY NURSING HOME CARE A PRIORITY!

CALL YOUR STATE SENATOR AT 617-410-5227!

Background:

The Massachusetts Senate is currently working on its FY 2020 state budget and your local state senator has an opportunity to make budget decisions that will prioritize nursing home care. Please urge your State Senator to Answer the Call to Care by making nursing home funding a top priority in their request to the Committee on Senate Ways and Means. The Committee's budget recommendation is expected to be released on May 15th. Your advocacy will be critical to help reinforce the ongoing grassroots, media and legislative efforts of Mass Senior Care's Answering the Call to Care Campaign.

ACTION STEPS

1) Call Your Local State Senator at 617-410-5227

To be connected to your local State Senator's office, please call 617-410-5227. You will be prompted to enter your facility's five-digit zip code to direct your call.  Once you have completed your call, please complete the participation form so we can actively track feedback and the progress of our advocacy efforts.

To assist you in calling your State Senator, below is a sample script.

"Hello. My name is __________ and I am calling from (FACILITY/TOWN) to urge the Senator to make nursing home care a top priority in the Fiscal Year 2020 budget. There is a critical need to update nursing home funding by using 2017 labor and resident care costs instead of the current formula that uses outdated and inadequate 2007 costs. Thank you for your consideration."

2) Share the Action Alert

Text, Tweet or Facebook the following message on your colleagues and friends:

"Answer the call to care – Call Your Local State Senator at 617-410-5227 and urge him/her to invest in quality nursing home care!"

Thank you for your advocacy!
