Building on its 38-year legacy of assisting long term care staff in furthering their education, the Massachusetts Senior Care Foundation is proud to announce its 2022 Foundation Scholars. Despite the extraordinary demands of caring for residents during the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, 40 individuals submitted applications for the 2022 Mass Senior Care Foundation Scholarship program, a testament to the commitment and dedication of our caregiving staff. This year's class of 24 exceptional awardees include Certified Nursing Assistants, nurses, therapy, activities and other facility staff who will use their scholarships to further their professional development and leadership in the long term care profession. In addition, the Foundation was proud to award the first Margaret “Peggi” Leoni Memorial Scholarship to Megan Bartell, Assistant Director of Nursing at Alden Court Nursing Care and Rehabilitation Center. Peggi was a valued colleague at Mass Senior Care Association who was passionate about leadership and quality in long term care and Megan embodies these same characteristics. At its November fundraising event, the Foundation announced more than $100,000 had been raised to continue to support its mission to promote innovative tools, services, programs and research related to clinical and workforce quality across the continuum of care for older adults and people with disabilities. We are grateful for the generosity of our donors, including our Premier Sponsor, CLA and our Gold Sponsor, Marquis Health Consulting Services, whose contributions have helped more than 1,600 individuals achieve their professional and personal goals, while contributing to a stable and committed long term care workforce.
