The Loomis Lakeside at Reeds Landing Nursing Center is a small, patient-centered, skilled nursing facility that provides traditional long-term care services and short-term rehabilitation services to allow our residents recover from an illness or surgery that required a stay in the hospital. SUMMARY:
The Director of Nursing assumes authority, responsibility, and accountability for the delivery of nursing services in the facility. In collaboration with facility Administration, allocates department resources in an efficient and economic manner to enable each resident to attain or maintain the highest practical physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being. Collaborates with other departments, medical professionals, consultants, and organizations, including government agencies and advocacy groups, to develop, support and coordinate resident care, related administrative functions, and to represent the interests of the facility. Plans, develops, and directs the overall administrative and organizational day to day operation of the nursing department to ensure the highest quality of care. Ensuring proper policies, procedures and protocols for care are in place to include the entire nursing process (assessment, plan, implementation and follow-up) for use of antibiotics in the care of the residents. Ensuring adequate education and monitoring to ensure the process is implemented, proper communication occurs, evidence-based standards of practice vs. perceptions are used and expectations of all staff is identified.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Performs job functions in a manner consistent with the mission and goals of the Loomis Communities. Adheres to The Loomis Communities Compliance and Ethics Program. Performs other duties as assigned.
• Demonstrates an awareness of, a respect for and attention to the diversity of the people with whom they interact (persons served, personnel, families/caregivers, and other stakeholders) that is reflected in attitudes, behavior and services.
• Oversees the day to day nursing center operations while advancing new person-centered services and approaches by ensuring resident needs are being met. Ensures completion of DPH reportable incidents and follows up on all incidents.
• Interviews, hires and assists with orienting new nursing department personnel with honesty and transparency, implements corrective action timely
• Ensures adequate departmental staffing to meet resident needs and regulatory requirements, monitoring attendance and payroll transmission, oversees and approves scheduling of staff
• Develops nursing department budget with fiscal prudence to ensure budgetary compliance by coding bills, monitoring expenses, preparing monthly variance reports and working closely with other departments and vendors to provide quality care to all residents.
• Develops and updates departmental policies, procedures and job descriptions, working collaboratively with Executive Director and Nursing management team to set objectives and priorities to advance The Loomis Communities mission for the Nursing Department
• Supervises and evaluates nursing management staff, Reviews evaluations on all nursing department staff and makes recommendations when necessary
• Serves on various committees and attends key meetings, monitors and complies with safety regulations, infection control and quality of care, complies with confidentiality requirements and resident rights.
