Seminar Description:
Navigating guardianship and conservatorship in nursing homes can be complex for providers, residents, and families. This program will review the legal foundations of guardianship and conservatorship, outline the rights and responsibilities of appointed decision-makers, and highlight the nursing facility’s role in supporting residents under these arrangements. In addition, the Officer of Guardianship & Conservatorship Oversight (OAGCO) will provide an overview of recent changes within the Probate and Family Court related to guardianship and conservatorship of adults.
Objectives:
Attendees will:
- Understand the basic concepts and process of guardianship.
- Identify additional considerations related to guardianship of residents in nursing homes.
- Recognize the difference between guardianship and conservatorship.

The Massachusetts Senior Care Association has qualified for “deemed status #NH-09015-007” from the Board of Registration of Nursing Home Administrators for Administrators. This program also meets continuing education requirements for Nurses in Massachusetts. All paid attendees will receive a certificate of attendance.
Cancellation Policy:
Mass Senior Care must be notified in writing no later than 48 hours prior to the start of the seminar for a refund, minus a $25 processing fee, which will be refunded in the manner in which the payment was made. “No Show” attendees will be billed at the full registration fee.
