Reasonable Accommodations and Employer Hardship: Applying State and Federal Labor Laws in Nursing Facilities

Program Description:
Do you need help understanding how to extend reasonable accommodations to employees, and determining whether or not the requested accommodation poses an undue hardship on the employer? Join Mass Senior Care Associate Members Dave Wilson and Kathleen Berney of Hirsch, Roberts, Weinstein for an engaging and instructive seminar on the latest updates in federal and state labor laws regarding reasonable accommodations. Discussion will include the new Pregnant Workers Fairness Act (PWFA) and existing MA labor laws protecting pregnant employees, as well as other applications of accommodations.
Objectives:
•Understand your organization’s responsibilities under the new Pregnant Workers Fairness Act and applicable MA law;
•Understand how to assess and document reasonable accommodations.
Explain steps to take when a requested accommodation poses an undue hardship to employers.

CEUs – 1.0
1.0 CEUs will be awarded for nurses and nursing home administrators. The Massachusetts Senior Care Association has qualified for “deemed status #NH-09015-007” from the Board of Registration of Nursing Home Administrators. This program also meets continuing education requirements for Nurses in Massachusetts. All paid registrants will receive a certificate of attendance.
Cancellation Policy:
Mass Senior Care must be notified in writing no later than 48 hours prior to the start of the seminar for a credit of equal amount to be issued to your Mass Senior Care account. No refunds will be given. “No Show” attendees will be billed at the full registration fee. Cancellations should be emailed to info@maseniorcare.org.
