In January 2025, Clif Porter assumed the role of President and CEO of the American Health Care Association/National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL), the nation’s leading association representing long term care providers. As the sector faces significant federal challenges - including potential Medicaid funding reductions that threaten both the quality of care and quality of life in nursing facilities - Clif Porter will deliver a timely update from Washington, D.C. He will share the latest developments affecting long term care residents and staff, offer insights into the future of health care policy, and highlight AHCA’s ongoing advocacy efforts to advance and protect the profession.

DPH 2025 spring conference

The Department of Public Health (DPH) Leadership Team will present data on current survey trends and key findings from recent annual and complaint surveys. The presentation will include an overview of the immediate jeopardy process and related enforcement actions. The session will also highlight the most commonly cited deficiencies, offering practical guidance and best practices for maintaining compliance. In addition, the DPH team will provide a concise overview of the current Life Safety Code process and the Fire Safety Evaluation System (FSES), equipping participants with valuable tools to navigate regulatory expectations.
