  • Video Library Created to Inform, Support, and Connect Long Term Care Staff and Residents
April 23, 2020

Maximizing the use of technology has been critical to keeping long term care residents and staff educated about COVID-19 and connected to their loved ones and communities.  Mass Senior Care Association is pleased to share its online video library and we encourage you to view and share the videos described below. Links to the videos can be found at the end of each description.

  • COVID-19 Policy Alliance Produces Video for Mass Senior Care Staff Members

Under the leadership of several professors at MIT, the COVID-19 Policy Alliance has stood up to assist the long term care provider community with data analysis, procurement of PPE and policy recommendations on how to combat COVID-19.  We are pleased to share a new video, Caring for the Caregivers, for facilities to use with Mass Senior Care staff to help educate about COVID-19, review basic infection control measures and reinforce how critically important our staff are to maintaining the health and safety of our vulnerable residents.  Please click here to view Caring for the Caregivers video.

  • UMASS Amherst Students Collaborate on COVID-19 Elder Companionship Project

With remote learning now the new normal, students at the UMASS Amherst School of Public Health and Health Sciences were looking for a way to connect with patients they would typically interact with during their clinical rotations.  Dr. Karen Helfer, Professor, Department of Communication Disorders, reached out to Mass Senior Care Association hoping that we could collaborate to help ease some of the social isolation nursing facility residents may be experiencing during this public health crisis.  The result of the COVID-19 Elder Companionship Project is a series of upbeat, inspirational, funny videos for both residents and staff submitted by UMASS Amherst students.  We are very grateful to all of the students who took the time to send a heartfelt message and to Dr. Helfer for spearheading this initiative.
