MassHealth yesterday notified nursing facilities via email that Behavioral Health Community Partner (BHCP) supports and services for residents determined through the PASRR Level II process to have a Serious Mental Illness (SMI) will transition to different BHCP providers over the coming months.
The Behavioral Health Community Partners Program (BH CP) supports:
- Nursing facility residents authorized to receive services from the Department of Mental Health (DMH)
- Nursing facility residents with a positive Level 2 PASRR determination of Serious Mental Illness (SMI) who have received a determination that nursing facility services are appropriate for up to the next 12 months (“12-month determination”)
MassHealth’s notice also noted that facilities’ responsibilities remain unchanged with regard to the BHCP. Members are encouraged to review MassHealth Nursing Facility Bulletin 180, which provides detailed guidance on nursing facility responsibilities for coordinating with Behavioral Health Community Partners and implementing PASRR-related recommendations.
