This past Monday, Laura Cannistraro completed her fourth Boston Marathon—and her second as a charity runner on behalf of Elizabeth Seton Residence (ESR), an MSCA member facility.
Cannistraro’s connection to ESR is deeply personal: her grandmother currently resides at the facility, and her late grandfather was also a former resident. She runs in honor of both of them, aiming to give back to the place that provided them with compassionate care. In the days leading up to Marathon Monday, Cannistraro, her grandmother, and other ESR residents were featured in a segment on WCVB.
Funds raised through Cannistraro’s efforts will directly benefit ESR, enabling the purchase of new rehabilitation equipment for its physical and occupational therapy programs. “We’ve raised nearly $100,000 over the years, just through having these charity runners,” said Lori Ferrante, Executive Director and CEO of the Elizabeth Seton Residence, in an interview with WCVB. “For all of our seniors, we really focus on physical exercise and on cognitive exercise, and just keeping people engaged.”
Mass Senior Care congratulates Laura and all of this year’s Boston Marathon participants on their incredible achievement!
