ICD-10 Coding: Strategies for Coding Accuracy
Presented in Partnership with Harmony Healthcare International (HHI)
December 11, 2018
1:00 pm – 4:00 pm
Mass Senior Care Association Office, Waltham
Program Description:
As we approach the third mandated update to ICD-10, some Skilled Nursing Facilities continue to struggle with ICD-10 accuracy. ICD-10 codes must reflect documented skilled services to support the billed RUG. But that is not all! The SNF Quality Reporting Program (QRP); SNF Value-Based Purchasing (VBP); Patient-Driven Payment Model (PDPM) will also be impacted by ICD-10 coding. According to CMS, “… PDPM, focuses on clinically relevant factors, rather than volume-based service for determining Medicare payment, by using ICD-10 diagnosis codes and other patient characteristics as the basis for patient classification.”
The speaker will provide key strategies to identify and mitigate potential issues specific to the long-term care provider. A solid ICD-10 coding process and triple check system is essential for achieving compliance and obtaining accurate and appropriate reimbursement allowing Skilled Nursing Facilities to continue to provide high-quality care to the nation’s most vulnerable population.
