Seminar Description:
Almost two years after the CMS adoption of the 2012 NFPA 101 Life Safety Code, several compliance challenges still remain for skilled nursing facilities. This workshop will review the top deficiencies cited by Massachusetts DPH surveyors on annual life safety code inspections as well as and a deeper dive into the continuing challenge of annual fire door inspections. Participants will receive clarification on the annual fire door inspections based on CMS and the Joint Commission discussions as well provide resources to assist facilities developing a fire door inspection program. Participants will also be provided with updates on the Fire Safety Evaluation System(FSES) and other CMS topics.
Objectives: At the conclusion of this seminar, participants will:
1) Understand the top deficiencies cited during LSC surveys;
2) Understand compliance issues associated with fire door inspections; and
3) Understand the components of an annual fire door inspection program.
